A Piece of Cavern History When the original Cavern closed down in 1973, the owner, well known Liverpool character Roy Adams had the task of clearing out the office. Roy placed into storage various items which have lain undiscovered until recently. One item in particular, Roy considers to be historic as far as the Cavern is concerned. It is a disc which was proof of membership in the mid 60's at the Cavern, it hung from a leather lace around the neck. This medallion was introduced for a short time before reverting back to the cards. A limited number of these discs are now available. Each one will be mounted with photos in a frame, with a certificate of authenticity, signed by the last owner of the original Cavern, Roy Adams. A list of all purchasers will be kept for reference. Roy Adams was involved in night clubs for 42 years, initially as a doorman (bouncer) and then as a club owner, being involved in more than 20 clubs. His book Hard Nights gives a historic picture of night life from the 1950's onwards. In February 2007, Roy was presented at the Best Bar None dinner in Liverpool with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his massive contribution to Liverpool night life. Further details of Roy Adams are available on www.cavernman.com and also on www.robertuniverse.com |
